Child Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In ATV Rollover

(Town of Emmet) A nine-year-old from Rio suffered life-threatening injuries in an All-Terrain Vehicle accident in the Town of Emmet Saturday night. The child was a passenger on an ATV operated by a 48-year-old Watertown man, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the two were riding on County Road M/ Rhine Road around 9:20pm when he lost control at an intersection and rolled the ATV, ejecting the two. They were both taken to Watertown Hospital before being transferred elsewhere. The Watertown man was sent to Aurora Hospital in Summit while the youngster was flown to Children’s Hospital in Madison. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.  Assisting at the scene was the Wisconsin State Patrol, Watertown Paramedics, Watertown Fire and Watertown Police.
