Chicago Man Charged With Armed Burglary Of Herman Residence

(Herman) Cash bond was set at $25,000 for a Chicago man charged in Dodge County court for his alleged role in an armed burglary in the town of Herman. Travis White made his initial appearance Monday and is facing one felony count of Armed Burglary with a Dangerous Weapon. Last week the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release with photos of two suspects and a vehicle believed to be involved in several residential burglaries. Through tips, law enforcement was able to identify one of the individuals in the photo as the owner of the car. On Friday, a sheriff’s deputy took reports of a suspicious vehicle seen on County Highway DW that matched their description. Law enforcement later spotted the vehicle parked in a driveway at a residence on Madison Road in the town of Herman. The car began backing out of the property and a high-risk traffic stop was conducting. The driver complied with commands to exit the vehicle and was placed under arrest. When deputies arrived back at the residence to search for other suspects, White was located and arrested. Following a body search a loaded handgun was reportedly found near his waistline. Nobody was home at the time of the incident and the property owner later said that many of the items inside were staging pieces that did not belong to him because the house was for sale. In talking with investigators White allegedly said he entered the home because a family member had come into a serious debt problem and needed money or items to clear the debt. The driver of the vehicle requested an attorney and has not yet been charged. If convicted, the 30-year-old White faces no more than 15 years in prison. A judge will decide next week if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
