Charges Filed For Smuggling Contraband Into Fox Lake Correctional

(Fox Lake) A Cambridge woman was charged Wednesday with bringing illegal contraband into Fox Lake Correctional. Margaret Gordon is facing a felony count of Deliver Illegal Articles to an Inmate. On April 19 correctional staff were tipped off that an inmate was going to receive some type of contraband during visitation. When Gordon arrived at the visiting room an officer allegedly observed her remove an object from a piece of clothing and place it inside a bag of chips. Gordon initially denied bringing anything illegal into the prison but then reportedly admitted her actions when informed that the visiting room had security cameras. According to the criminal complaint, Gordon handed over a small balloon that was filled with chewing tobacco. If convicted, the 35-year-old is facing no more than three-and-a-half-years behind bars. An initial appearance is scheduled for June 17.
