Charges Dropped Against Fox Lake Man Who Testified Against Murderer

(Fox Lake) Charges have been dropped against a Fox Lake man accused helping to cover-up a murder. A Dodge County judge this week dismissed charges of Aiding a Felon against Vernon Mickey on a prosecutor’s motion. The 60-year-old testified against LaVerne Ware Jr, who was convicted in March of First Degree Intentional Homicide in the death of his girlfriend and first cousin Sesalie Dixon. The 27-year-old’s body was found in the cab of Ware’s pickup truck which was concealed in Mickey’s garage. The day after he learned of the death, the 60-year-old Mickey left the house to call police from a gas station, but video surveillance reportedly shows him in the same gas station hours earlier, at which time police were not contacted. Mickey had an agreement with prosecutors that charges would be dismissed if he testified honestly against Ware, who will be sentenced in June.
