(Beaver Dam) Two local agencies have been providing support for those affected by the recent apartment fires in Beaver Dam. Representatives from both Saint Vincent DePaul and the Saint Katharine Drexel Conference joined Community Comment to discuss ways the public can get involved.
Saint Vincent DePaul Store Manager Ben Nelson explains some of their biggest needs. He says some of the biggest tasks before the agency currently are furnishing apartments and homes as well as raising money for rent and day-to-day necessities. Nelson says landlords should contact the store at 920-885-6971 if they have apartments that are available for rent and encourages people to continue to donate furniture.
Saint Katharine Drexel Conference President John Leiting says those interested in assisting the occupants affected by the fires to shop at Saint Vincent DePaul. He says they are the fuel that allows these local agencies to support Dodge County residents in need.
Nelson says he has met with most of the residents of the Executive Apartment fire and those displayed by the controlled burn of Village Glen building 109 and noted there appreciation of support shown by the community.
People can mail their donations to Saint Vincent DePaul at 125 Dodge Drive, Suite 100, Beaver Dam. Donation jars are available at the store which will go towards the Emergency Response Fund at American Bank for residents of the Executive fire. Residents can also donate at any of American Banks three Beaver Dam locations.
