Cash Bond Set At $10K For Man Accused Of Fleeing Dodge County Deputies

(Clyman) Cash bond was set at $10,000 for a Janesville man charged with running from Dodge County authorities. Johnny Shawver is facing felony counts of Fleeing, Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine.

Around 11pm on New Yearโ€™s Eve, the sheriffโ€™s office was notified by law enforcement in Jefferson County that they were in pursuit of a vehicle heading towards Dodge County. The suspect was located on Highway 26 near Wilson Road, kicking off a chase that lasted over 26 miles ranging from 65 to 100 miles-per-hour.

The suspect nearly struck a deputyโ€™s squad during the pursuit and blew through at least five stop signs, according to the complaint. The driver, reportedly identified as Shawver, drove down a dead-end road where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

The 35-year-old was quickly located and taken into custody. A search of the vehicle yielded a bag weighing over 42 grams and allegedly tested positive for cocaine.

If convicted, Shawver faces up to 53-and-a-half-years in prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next Thursday.
