California Man Succumbs To Injures In Fond du Lac County Crash

8/29/17 – A 62-year-old Salinas, California truck driver died after his semi rolled over after being hit by a car at the intersection of County Highway F and Highway 175 south of Fond du Lac Monday morning. It happened about 6:48 a.m. near Eden. The semi driver was heading east on County Highway F and failed to stop at a stop sign and traveled into the intersection where his truck was hit by a car that was northbound on Highway 175. The car struck the rear tandem axles of the trailer of the semi with enough force to roll the semi onto its side. The semi came to rest in the road just east of the intersection. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says heavy flying objects inside the cab of the semi struck the driver causing more injury than the actual rollover. It was foggy at the time, which may have been a contributing factor in the accident. Because of the fog and a thunderstorm a medical helicopter was not available to land at the scene. Both drivers were taken by ambulance to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac where the California man died. The driver of the car was a 24-year-old Fond du Lac man. The State Patrol is handling the accident investigation.
