(Calamus) One person suffered potentially life-threatening injuries following an ATV crash in the Township of Calamus Saturday. Dodge County deputies were dispatched to Ridge Road near Jackson Road around 5:30pm for a report that an All-Terrain Vehicle crashed in the roadway. Emergency responders found a 49-year-old Town of Calamus man who was unresponsive. The preliminary investigation revealed that the ATV was southbound on Ridge Road when it lost control, overturning and ejecting the lone occupant. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, before later being transferred to a hospital in Madison, where his current status is unknown. A medical helicopter was requested to the scene but was unavailable to fly due to weather conditions. He was not wearing a helmet, which is a factor in the significance of the injuries. The investigation is ongoing. Assisting the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office were conservation wardens from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources along with the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit, the Beaver Dam Police Department and Beaver Dam Fire and Rescue.
