8/31/17 – The Fox Lake Common Council will decide at their next meeting whether to expand their municipal court into Brownsville. The move would be the first expansion for the city which would then handle non-criminal offenses like municipal ordinance and traffic violations for Brownsville. Mayor Tom Bednarek says both Brownsville and Mayville approached them a year ago to join the municipal courts but it did not lead anywhere. Then, two months ago Brownsville re-approached the city and asked if they were still interested. Bednarek says since then they have been working on an agreement to bring them into the fold. He says if the move passes council voting it will benefit Fox Lake through additional revenue dollars. The Fox Lake Council of the Whole will meet September 6 at 6:30pm.
