(Brandon) On a six-to-three vote Monday night the Rosendale-Brandon School Board voted to consolidate the Brandon Middle School with Rosendale Intermediate School. It was a tough decision for the board whose members are concerned about how the consolidation will affect teachers and students. They were also worried that the district will lose support and key staff members by closing the Brandon Middle School. But the decision was based on declining enrollment, which is expected to drop by 30 percent over the next four years. District officials estimate by combining the two schools and cutting some positions the district will save $68,000. The consolidation will take effect next school year.
