Broden Boschert’s three run homer in the bottom of the 4th highlighted a four-run frame as Beaver Dam took down Hartford 7-3 on Wednesday night in Badgerland Summer Baseball League action. The BD got the offense going early with single runs in the first three innings. Adam Chase drove in a run in the 1st on an RBI groundout, while Jeff Bemis and Eli Wilke added RBI singles in the 2nd and 3rd innings respectively.
Hartford scored single runs in the 1st, 3rd and 4th innings to send the game into the bottom of the 4th tied at 3-3. Alex Soto walked and Adam Chase was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the fourth. Two batters later, Boschert crushed a towering three run homer to left to give BD the lead for good. Beaver Dam added a fourth run in the inning when Wes Biel scampered home on a wild pitch.
Adam Chase was the only Beaver Dam player with a multi-hit game, going 2×3 with 2 runs scored.
Carter Riesen pitched three scoreless innings in relief of starter Alex Soto, giving up just one hit and collecting three strikeouts to pick up the win.
The victory improves Beaver Dam to 3-0 on the season. Beaver Dam’s varsity and JV squads will both host Waupun on Thursday night at 6pm.
