Bond Set At $2-Million For Fond Du Lac Man Suspected Of Trying To Kill His Wife

(Fond du Lac) Bond has been set at $2 million cash for a Fond du Lac man suspected of trying to kill his wife. Fermin Teodoro Lopez-Mendoza made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County court Wednesday on charges of Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide, Mayhem, First-Degree Reckless Injury, and Aggravated Battery.

According to the criminal complaint his family was kicking him out of their home on County Road K last Friday after a long history of domestic violence. He argued with his wife and at some point reportedly stabbed her with a kitchen knife in the stomach three times. One of wounds was deep and lacerated her liver.

She also suffered defensive wounds to her hands trying to grab the knife Lopez-Mendoza was allegedly using. The 50-year-old fled the residence in his vehicle and was picked up the next day during a traffic stop in Ozaukee County. The victim was taken to the hospital for surgery.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 4th.
