Bond Modified For Man Tied To Fox Lake Murder

1/27/17 – Bond was modified yesterday for a Fox Lake man tied to a December murder.  At a Dodge County hearing, Vernon Mickey had his bail changed from the original $5,000 signature bond to a $10,000 cash bond. His lawyer requested the modification saying that Mickey is destitute and fears retribution. The 57-year-old is accused of Aiding a Felon for not immediately notifying authorities when he became aware of a corpse on his property.  36-year-old LaVerne Ware Jr. of Milwaukee is facing a variety of charges including First Degree Intentional Homicide in the death of his girlfriend/cousin Sesalie Dixon, whose corpse was found in the cab of a pickup truck reportedly concealed in Mickey’s garage.  The day after he allegedly learned of the death, Mickey left the house to call police from a gas station, but video surveillance reportedly shows Mickey in the same gas station hours earlier, at which time police were not contacted.  Mickey’s girlfriend, 64-year-old Marjorie Jones is also facing charges for Aiding a Felon and also for Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted Felon.  Mickey’s preliminary hearing was originally scheduled for yesterday but was moved to February 2.  Ware has a hearing set for January 31 while Jones will be arraigned February 8.
