(Fond du Lac County) Fond du Lac County authorities recovered a body from Lake Winnebago Wednesday that matched the description of one of the victims reported missing from a canoe Monday night. Sonar devices utilized by the sheriff’s office and DNR search teams produced an image that required further investigation. A dive team was deployed in the area rescuers were focusing their search, based on GPS coordinates obtained from the cellular 911 calls placed by Dakota Goldapske and Michael Gohde. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the recovered victim was transported back to shore and turned over to the medical examiner’s office. He says they will work with family members to confirm the identity of the victim. The search for the second victim was suspended for boat crew and driver safety due to weather conditions. Recovery efforts will continue today.
