Parker Blank’s 18 yard field goal with 1.4 seconds left punched Beaver Dam’s ticket to the playoffs with a 17-14 win over Oregon (Overall: 1-7, Badger Large: 0-6) on Friday night at HH Derleth Field.
The Golden Beavers trailed seven nothing at the half with the lone score being a 23 yard touchdown run with 7:30 left in the 2nd quarter. The Panthers outgained Beaver Dam 222-37 through the first 24 minutes.
Beaver Dam evened the game a 7-7 on the first drive on the 2nd half as Josiah Barnes capped an 8-play 54 yard drive with a six yard touchdown run. The game stayed even until Jeremiah Rockiett went around the left side for a 79 yard score with 11:39 left in the 4th quarter. Beaver Dam answered back with a long drive of their own capped by Barnes 2nd TD run of the game, this time from seven yards out.
The Golden Beavers defense held and got the ball back and a long pass play from Eli Bryant to Kyler Keel put the ball inside the five yard line setting up Blank’s game winning field goal.
Barnes finished the game with 167 yards on 39 carries to go along with his two TDs. Bryant completed 6 of 9 passes for 102 yard. Kyler Keel caught three of those passes for 70 yards. Rockiett had a 175 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries to pace the Oregon offense.
The Golden Beavers (Overall: 6-2, Badger Large: 4-2) wraps up their regular season next Friday night at 2nd ranked Waunakee. You can hear that game on 1430 ESPN Beaver Dam.
