(Town of Otsego) A woman riding a bicycle on a rural Columbia County road was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a car. Both the car and the bicycle were westbound on County Highway B, just west of Williams Road, in the Town of Otsego around 8:30am when the crash occurred. The 58-year-old who was riding the bicycle was pronounced dead at the scene by a UW-Med Flight doctor. Alcohol and drug use do not appear to be a factor and the driver of the car has been cooperating with the investigation which is still active. The names of those involved in the crash have not yet being released. Sheriff Roger Brandner reminds motorists to share the road with pedestrians and bicyclists and to remain free of any distractions while driving. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Rio Fire Department, Rio EMS, Doylestown Fire, Blystones Towing, UW Med-Flight, Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office, and a Chaplain from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
