(Beaver Dam) Festivities for Best Dam Fest in Beaver Dam kick off at 6pm Friday, July 9th. The event replaces the former River Fest, but Community Development Manager Mary Vogl-Rauscher says that does not mean this is the same event from years past, adding that they have spread the festival from not only Tahoe Park but throughout downtown Beaver Dam.
Vogl-Rauscher says the new event encompasses more of the city and is truly a community driven event. The fest will feature ticketed amusement rides, The Best Dam Hunt scavenger hunt, crafting demonstrations, food trucks, a fishing tournament, and a performance by the Must-Skis. Throughout the three day event, live music will be featured at various downtown locations. Event Committee Representative Petrina Simms is reminding attendees that there are special rules in place if alcohol is being consumed outside. She says wrist bands must be purchased in order to consume alcohol outside of bars during the event. The wrist bands will be available at multiple locations for purchase at $5 each, and maps will be made available to show areas where outdoor drinking is allowed.
Best Dam Fest will also feature the return of fireworks at Tahoe Park at 9:45pm Saturday night. More information, and a full schedule of events can be found online at www.bestdamfest.com.
