Berlin Man Facing Felony Theft Charges For Abandoned Roof Projects

(Ashippun) A Berlin man who failed to complete several roofing jobs is facing felony charges. Marcus Reinford is facing two counts of Theft by Contractor. In January, the complainant who owns multiple properties in Town of Ashippun said he hired Reinford’s company ‘Roof Master of Wisconsin’ to complete a job. The individual reported he agreed to give Reinford a $10,000 down payment for the $16,000 job in August. The work was expected to take two days. According to the criminal complaint, Reinford failed to complete the job after several months and after several requests from the property owner. In September, a second individual wrote Reinford a $4,500 check for a roofing project. Again, the property owner reported that no work had been completed. Several attempts to have the down payments returned were unsuccessful. When questioned, Reinford allegedly admitted to receiving the money and that he did not complete any of the work he was hired to do. He added that he was no longer going to be performing roofing projects. If convicted, the 26-year-old faces no more than nine-and-a-half years in prison. An initial appearance is scheduled in August.
