(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam’s Habitat for Humanity ReStore has a food pantry available every day, year round for those in need. The pantry grew from the Playground Movement, which had a Global Youth Service Day food drive. Beaver Dam Habitat for Humanity Restore Manager Laura Goral explains.
“We have a “Food is Free” pantry,” says Goral. “Food is free, comida es gratis Beaver Dam. It’s 24/7/365.”
The pantry is monitored by video, and Goral says she can see on her phone if someone is donating food, cleaning, or looking for something. She also says that the pantry is need of a few items.
“I think the biggest need in anybody’s diet is proteins, fresh fruit, dairy,” Goral says “I don’t want your can of creamed corn that you don’t know what the expiration date was at. You know, if you don’t wanna eat it, someone else doesn’t wanna eat it either.”
Other needs include loaves of bread, peanut butter, jelly, canned food, and pouches. The pantry is located at 1022 Madison Street in Beaver Dam.
