Beaver Dam Baseball Drops Sectional Final In Extra Innings

The Beaver Dam High School baseball WIAA Playoff run came to an end in the Sectional Final on Tuesday night in Oshkosh falling to Hartford 4-1 in 10 innings.  In an all-time pitchers dual Beaver Dam’s Eli Bryant went toe to toe with the Orioles Carter Kutz.   in a battle that was scoreless heading into the 7th inning, Hartford plated the first run of the game on a two-out wild pitch, but Beaver Dam answered when Jeff Freund snuck home on a Hartford wild pitch.    Hartford finally got going in the top of the 10th, scoring three runs to earn a trip to state.

Bryant pitched eight innings, giving up just eight hits and one run to go along with six strikeouts.  Kutz struck out eight and have up just one hit in seven and a third innings of action.  Breyson Burg struck out five in the final two and two thirds innings to earn the win, while Boston Damon took the loss.

Beaver Dam earned the right to play in the Sectional Final by beating Oklahoma State recruit Noah Wech and the Manitowoc Ships 3-1. Daelen Johnson went the distance giving up just one run on five hits and striking out five.  Johnson, Bryant and Kyler Keel drove in runs for Beaver Dam.

The Golden Beavers (17-10) season ends in the Sectional Final for the 2nd straight season.
