8/18/17 – A Beaver Dam woman was killed Friday morning on Highway 151 after exiting her SUV to render aid to a motorist and getting struck by a pickup truck. The incident occurred at 5:16am just north of Forest Road in the Town of Calamus. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says it all began with an unrelated crash involving two vehicles that had resulted in only property damage. The 37-year-old Beaver Dam woman stopped in the left lane of southbound Highway 151 to render aid, exited her SUV and walked onto the shoulder of the median. A 28-year-old Beaver Dam man was driving a southbound pickup truck that swerved to avoid striking her SUV. He struck the Beaver Dam woman instead who was now a pedestrian outside her SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner. The man driving the pickup was not injured. The names of those involved will be released this morning after family has been notified. The accident remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
