Beaver Dam Woman Facing Drug Possession Charges

8/1/2017 – A Beaver Dam woman charged with possessing illegal drugs made her initial appearance in court yesterday. Tracy Riel is facing one felony count of Possession of Narcotic Drugs as well as one misdemeanor charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On Saturday, Beaver Dam police officers were dispatched to a report of a car accident in the parking lot of Meadowview Apartments. According to the criminal complaint, a witness saw Riel hit a parked vehicle then stumble around before heading into the building. In talking with investigators, they noticed Riel’s eyes were blood shot and her speech was slurred. When conducting a body search, police found a small bag containing a rock like substance that allegedly tested positive for heroin. The 38-year-old reportedly told officers that she had not been drinking alcohol or taking any controlled substances prior to the crash. If convicted, Riel faces up to three-and-a-half years in prison. Signature bond was set at $1,000 dollars and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 14.
