Beaver Dam Woman Changes Plea In Assault Case

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam woman accused of assaulting a minor is changing her plea. In June, the court entered a not guilty plea on Jennifer Schmidt’s behalf during her arraignment hearing but yesterday she requested to change it to not guilty by reason of mental defect. Judge Steven Bauer accepted the request. Schmidt allegedly had inappropriate contact with a juveline on multiple occasions last spring. She at first denied the accusations but later reportedly admitted to her actions. If convicted on all charges, the 49-year-old is facing up to 120 years in prison.
