Beaver Dam Veterans Memorial Engraving Deadline Wednesday

5/8/17 – There are still opportunities available for residents who wish to honor local veterans by engraving their name in a local monument. Officials with the Veteran’s Memorial at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam are letting people know that spots are still open on the memorial wall. The inscription should include the years in service, rank and any wars or conflicts served.  Memorial Committee member Ross O’Brian says that anyone with military service can get their names on the wall. He notes that you do not at any point serve in active combat or serve only two years in the service. O’Brian adds that many young people are donating a plaque to their grandfather or grandmother. There are around 1100 names on the walls so far leaving close to 280 spots left. Those interested must fill out an application and pay $200 dollars for the engraving. The deadline to submit the paperwork is Wednesday.
