The Beaver Dam High School football team heads to De Pere tonight for a WIAA Division Two, Level 1 playoff matchup. The kickoff is set for 7pm.
Beaver Dam (4-5) finished tied for third in the Badger Large Conference behind league champ Waunakee and runner-up DeForest. Sophomore running back Gabe Klatt led the conference in rushing this season with 1772 yards. That was the fourth highest total in Wisconsin this season. QB Camron Mendoza has 387 yards and a pair of TDs on the ground. He’s also thrown for 607 yards and 9 TDs. Senior receiver Alex Soto has caught 29 passes for 490 yards and seven touchdowns. Soto has also run for a pair of scores. Defensive back Jaden Barstow has been in on 113 tackles, this season which is tied for 15th most in the state. This is just the ninth time in the 126 year history of Beaver Dam football.
De Pere (8-1) is the #1 seed in their region of the WIAA Division Two playoffs. The Red Birds were a perfect 7-0 in the tough Fox River Classic North Conference. Their only loss of the season was a 38-14 defeat at Wausau West in the season opener. Junior QB Gabe Herman has thrown for 854 yards and 13 TDs and has also rushed for 546 yards and 9 TDs this season. Devin Koskey has 546 yards and rushing TDs on his resume. Wideout Jake May has caught 25 passes for 460 yards and 8 TDs. De Pere is currently ranked #3 in the Wissports.net Division Two Coaches Poll.
