Beaver Dam Teen Facing Felony Retail Theft Charges

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam teen is accused of retail theft. Sharief Williams is facing a felony charge of Theft of Movable Property and two misdemeanor counts of Retail Theft and Disorderly Conduct.

Williams allegedly entered the Beaver Dam business, which was not named in the complaint, with two others on Monday, August 1st, and took THC products without paying. A cashier allegedly told authorities that Williams pushed her as she attempted to keep him from accessing the area behind the counter.

Officers quickly located Williams riding a BMX bike not far from the business. According to the complaint, Williams said he entered the store to buy tobacco products but could not due to his age. He reportedly admitted to taking two vape cartridges from a display case near the registers.

If convicted, the 17-year-old faces up to 10 years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1,000 during Williams’ initial appearance in court and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 9th.
