Beaver Dam Seeking Grant For Elevated Walkway To Edgewater

6/6/17 – The Beaver Dam Common Council last night approved a resolution that allows the city to move forward with a grant application to assist in funding an elevated walkway to Edgewater Park. The matter initially passed through the city’s Operations Committee last night and Chair Robert Ballweg says the recreation area on the north side of Beaver Dam is currently only accessible by boat or via Highway 33, which requires the public to leave city limits. The walkway must be elevated because it would be built over city-owned wetlands between Edgewater Park and Starkweather Drive. It would allow for pedestrian and bicycle traffic along with maintenance vehicles. The grant would cover half the cost of the $150-thousand-dollar project. The city will learn if they’ve been awarded the grant in October and the funds could be used next year.
