(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School District is producing a series of online messages that focus on safety issues facing students today. Superintendent Mark DiStefano says the initial topics already addressed include vaping, social media safety and sex trafficking. It is all part of the district’s safety plan which includes monthly touch points and parent and community education relative to the variety of issues that impact student safety.
DiStefano says the online messages include a call to action relative to the topic along with the negative impact on student learning and local resources available. Based on the number of views, he is optimistic that families are watching. Future programs will include information from school resource officers, student services staff and counselors on various topics that are applicable to students and the world they are growing up in.
