5/9/17 – School officials in Beaver Dam had high praise for the police department in their efforts in investigating threats that led to the closure of school on Friday. Superintendent Steve Vessey told the school board last night that he cannot stress enough how impressed he was with the remarkable speed and efficiency that Beaver Dam officers displayed during the very early morning hours on Friday. Vessey says there was no reason to be concerned yesterday but yet there were officers everywhere and he notes that several had lunch at the high school. School Board member Marge Jorgensen had high praise for Vessey and administrators for their swift response to the situation. Jorgensen says she agrees with the decision to close all campuses even though the threat was apparently just directed at the high school. Vessey says he is typically not a fan of closing school but in this case felt it was justified.
