Beaver Dam Road Construction Season Begins At Months End

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam’s 2025 road construction season will begin at the end of the month. Weather permitting, work will get underway on March 31st. City Administrator Nathan Thiel says this year’s projects will be the blocks of Front Street, from West Street to Beaver Street, and Beaver Street, from Front Street to West Maple Avenue.

“It will be complete reconstruction…so, completely torn out…water and sewer reinstalled.”

Access to the project area will be limited during construction hours, which are 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday, but will be maintained to the greatest extent possible during off hours. Construction is anticipated to be completed by August.

As a result of the construction process which involves disconnecting and tying in new water main and laterals, property owners in the immediate vicinity of the work may experience temporary discoloration of their water. This discoloration consists primarily of harmless silt, air, or calcium carbonate and does not affect the safety of the water.

Water utility staff will be flushing these areas regularly during the process if these types of conditions are present. Property owners should also expect periodic short term water service shutoffs to accommodate the new water main construction, of which you will be notified 24 hours in advance by the contractor.

During construction these blocks will be closed to thru traffic and the general public is encouraged to avoid the construction area. Property owners are also encouraged to consider finding alternative parking locations for the length of construction. Access will be available at the end of each day, and the city will work with property owners during construction as much as practical.

Thiel notes that work on Madison Street is slated for later this year.

“I know that there were questions about Madison…a portion of Madison Street is going to be done this year from Currie to Chatham,” says Thiel. “However, that’s probably going to be closer to the end of summer and early fall that…that work will be done.”

Thiel adds that work on Madison Street from Chatham to Rowell is scheduled for 2026.
