Beaver Dam Residents Reminded Of Snow Removal Policy

(Beaver Dam) With the recent snowfall, Beaver Dam residents are being reminded of city ordinance to clear sidewalks following any accumulation. Property owners must clear the sidewalks fronting their home including sidewalk ramps on corner lots each day following a snowfall. Ice accumulation that cannot be removed must be treated with a deicing or abrasive agent.

The city will remove any snow or ice left on the sidewalks after the required time period with associated costs assessed against the homeowner. Property managers are encouraged to inform tenants of this requirement as the cost will be against the owner and not the renter. Small quantities of sand/salt mixture is available to Beaver Dam residents only at the north side of the public works building at 640 South Center Street, 24 hours a day. Contractors cannot pickup up this mixture.

City officials say in the interest of safety, and according to local laws no one can shovel, plow or blow snow into the roadway or across the street from their property. Officials add that they appreciate everyone’s effort in helping keep pedestrian movement safe through the city.
