Beaver Dam Prep Keglers Hit The Lanes

The Beaver Dam high school bowling team’s season got underway earlier this week with a few changes because of COVID-19.

In high school bowling they bowl with “Baker Style” rules which means five bowlers combine to bowl one game, rotating frames. Each match is a best of nine competition.  With COVID-19, instead of traveling to a venue and battling a team head-to-head, each team bowls at their own center and they compare the scores of the games to see who wins.  If health protocols improve they hope to get back and travel to venues and face teams in person at some point this season.

The girls team has been dominate over the last four seasons qualifying for the state tournament and winning the championship two years ago.  They graduated five seniors from last year’s state squad but return Samantha Radig and Raeann Gayan.  All six bowlers from this year’s team attend Beaver Dam High School.  Coach Mike Monheim say may have new faces bowling but they still looks to win District 6 and return to state.

Coach Monheim says the boys team looks really strong this year. They fell short of the state tournament the last few years, falling to Watertown, but says their goal this year is to win District 6 and return to state.  Six of the seven boys teams members are from Beaver Dam High School with Kaleb Jacobson attending Randolph.

The Beaver Dam bowling team’s next match is set for Sunday, November 29th against Watertown, Brownsville and Lake Mills.
