Beaver Dam Police Respond To Increasing Crime In One Local Neighborhood

(Beaver Dam) Law enforcement has issued a response to the recent crime increase in one Town of Beaver Dam neighborhood. The BP Station on Madison Street was robbed for the second time in four days last night. In both instances, the perpetrator did not display a weapon but did escape with an undisclosed amount of cash. Checks were also taken in the New Year’s Eve robbery. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt called into WBEV’s morning show today to say his office will have an increased presence in the Lakecrest Drive/Madison Street area due the high amount of criminal activity in recent years including four robberies since 2014 and consistent drug problems. Schmidt says his detectives will work to find the person(s) behind the robberies while officers work to reduce crime in that neighborhood. While Schmidt says law enforcement is not sure whether the same person was responsible for both robberies, the suspects were described similarly: a thin, white male between 5’7” and 5’10” tall wearing a dark blue or black sweatshirt and a bandana across his face. Anyone with information should contact the sheriff’s office at 920-386-3726, Extension 4. A $500 reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the robberies.
