Beaver Dam Police Enforcing Parking In Lot Near Dam

(Beaver Dam) If you fish near the dam in downtown Beaver Dam, authorities are issuing a warning to be careful about where you park your vehicle. Police Sergeant Erik Smedema told us Friday on WBEV’s Community Comment that many people, oftentimes those with fishing poles, assume the that the parking lot near the dam off Madison Street is city-owned. However, it is actually a privately-owned lot for the residents of the Weyco Apartments. Management recently installed “private parking” signage. Smedema says they will be enforcing parking restrictions at the request of management. While officers will try to find the offenders, parking tickets will be issued as needed.  People are encouraged to find public parking areas or utilize on-street parking to avoid tickets that start at $20.
