(Beaver Dam) With the arrival of warmer weather, Beaver Dam residents will see more bicyclists on city streets. The Beaver Dam Police Department is encouraging bike owners to purchase bike lights. Officer Tony Karel says a person could duct tape a flashlight to their bike so long as the bicycle has some form of light source. Sergeant Jeramiah Johnson recommends not removing the reflectors from bikes as it makes them more visible to passing motorists. He says state statute requires the front and back reflectors to stay one at all times. Johnson says putting lights on bikes is required by state traffic laws in Wisconsin.
