3/20/17 – Beaver Dam Police recently joined us on WBEV’s Community Comment to talk about some of their prominent phone scam cases they have seen. Officer Tony Karel recounts one con that enlisted an unsuspecting local car dealership that was tricked into bringing a vehicle to victim’s home. The conmen told the dealership that they needed to show off a vehicle for a possible sale. The scammers were able to obtain personal information on the victim and then told them that they had won the car, plus a cash prize. Police say situations like these can be avoided by not giving out personal information during unsolicited calls.
