Beaver Dam Police Chief Gives Update On New K9 Unit

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam Police Chief John Kreuziger says the department has the money it needs for a new police dog and its partner has been identified. Kreuziger told the city’s Police and Fire Commission Tuesday night that Officer Brad Konkel was chosen from among four candidates to be the newest K9 patrolmen. Konkel wil be moving from third shift to second shift because the department already has a K9 unit on third shift. Kreuziger says the trainer has been identified and is working with a handler to find a dog with the right personality for its new partner. The plan is to have training start in August and the K9 on the beat by fall. The department last month saw the retirement of K9 Blade who had been partnered with Officer Nathan Keener.
