Beaver Dam Police and Fire Commission Approve Stricter Residency Guidelines for Firefighters

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police and Fire Commission last night approved stricter residency guidelines for firefighters. Deputy Fire Chief Matt Christian says the city recently changed the residence requirements for city staff, stating that they need to live within 15 miles of the city. The contract firefighters used to have prior to last night cited the city’s residency requirements for firefighters. Christian says the change would basically require firefighters to live within about ten miles of the station. The residency requirement will affect full-time and paid on call fire fighters but will not affect those who work for the city’s Interfacility Transport program.
