Beaver Dam Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteers. The community program delivers food within the city limits of Beaver Dam, each year handing out around 12,000 meals with assistance from 140 volunteers. All meals are prepared by the Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam Café and are made for noon dinners, which volunteers pick up and then deliver. Meals on Wheels provides nutritious and well-balanced food at a minimal cost for recently discharged patients, the handicapped and the homebound elderly. The program began in 1973 with 10 costumers and today has 88 people who receive meals Monday through Friday. Organizers say volunteer commitment is one time per month and approximately one hour per shift with volunteer training available.  To volunteer call Kathy Dries at 920- 885-3948 or Gail Hope Henschel at 920-887-1215.
