Beaver Dam Man Suspected Of Rape Found Incompetent To Stand Trial

(Beaver Dam) A competency hearing was held Thursday for a Beaver Dam charged with raping an unconscious female. Steven Carrick was found not competent and has suspended proceedings at this time. Carrick was facing a felony count of Second Degree Sexual Assault. According to the criminal complaint, the 23-year-old met the victim through a dating app and she visited him at his apartment in April. The 17-year-old victim allegedly told police that she fell asleep on Carrick’s bed and, when she woke up, he was on top of her. When questioned, Carrick reportedly said that he did not consider the incident rape but later told police it was (quote) “kinda rape.” Carrick has been referred to an outpatient program.
