Beaver Dam Man Placed On Probation For Running Down Deputies

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man who he tried to run down two sheriff’s deputies with his car will spend 18 months on probation. Keith Nickels pled yesterday to reduced misdemeanor charges of Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Disorderly Conduct. The incident happened in September at the North Hills Mobile Home Park in the Town of Beaver Dam. The two deputies were on foot patrol attempting to locate a person of interest to serve a warrant in an unrelated case when Nickel drove through the park in excess of the posted speed limit. One of the deputies shined a flashlight in the car. The 58-year-old Nickels turned the vehicle around and charged at the deputies at a high rate of speed. The deputies took evasive action, got out of the way and were not injured. A traffic stop was conducted and Nickels told the deputy that he was upset because the flashlight was shined into his vehicle.
