Beaver Dam Man Given Prison Time For Fifth Offense OWI

(Calamus) A Beaver Dam man was sentenced to two years in prison for fifth offense operating while intoxicated. Antonio Rodriquez Soto pled no contest to the felony charge Tuesday. On June 7th, a resident near Forest Road in the town of Calamus reported that a car had ended up in his front lawn. Witnesses say the vehicle blew through the intersection, hit a stop sign, collided with a tree and continued an additional 50 feet onto the residential property. Soto was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital where his blood alcohol results were point-three-four-four (.344). During sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Gilbert Thompson said Soto was extremely intoxicated and continued to consume intoxicants after he was released on cash bail. Thompson added that Soto’s behavior warrants time in prison. In addition to prison, the 60-year-old was placed on extended supervision for four years.
