Beaver Dam Man Given Jail Time For Assaulting Minor

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man was sentenced to nine months in jail with work release privileges Tuesday for having inappropriate contact with a minor. Robert Lee Haley entered a guilty plea to a felony count of Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. The 14-year-old first told authorities that she was at a park last November when Haley sat down next to her, grabbed her arm and threatened her family if she tried anything. Haley drove the victim to his apartment in Beaver Dam where he assaulted her. The victim later changed her story, saying that she voluntarily went to meet the 30-year-old to watch a movie together. She maintains that the assault did occur and was not consensual. Police were able to locate Haley through descriptions of his vehicle and apartment. When questioned, he said the girl told him she was 18-years-old and that any contact between them was consensual. He said that the two met on a dating app; the girl’s profile apparently indicated that she was 19-years-old. Haley was also placed on probation for three years.
