Beaver Dam Man Given Jail Time Following Felony Escape Conviction

(Juneau) A Beaver Dam man who failed to return to the Dodge County Detention Facility from a preapproved appointment was sentenced Monday to 65 days in jail with work release privileges. Brayden Kohlstedt entered a no contest plea to a felony count of Escape. A year-and-a-half prison sentence was imposed and stayed. Last October, security was notified that Kohlstedt did not return from a trip to the Beaver Dam Hospital. Kohlstedt had permission to visit the ER for stomach pain and was discharged from the hospital around 7pm. Corrections officers attempted to contact Kohlstedt’s listed phone number to no avail but an emergency contact said a relative picked Kohlstedt up from the hospital. The 21-year-old was serving a 120 sentence for Battery and was expected to be released from jail in February. Kohlstedt was also placed on probation for three years.
