Beaver Dam Man Charged With Raping Unconscious Teen Makes Initial Appearance In Court

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man charged with raping an unconscious female made his initial appearance in court Monday. Steven Carrick is facing a felony count of Second Degree Sexual Assault. According to the criminal complaint, Carrick meet the victim through a dating app and she visited him at his apartment in April. The 17-year-old allegedly told police that she fell asleep on Carrick’s bed and when she awoke he was on top of her. When questioned, Carrick reportedly said that he did not consider the incident rape but later told police it was (quote) “kinda rape.” If convicted, the 23-year-old faces no more than 40-years in prison. Signature bond was set at $1,000 and the court ordered a competency evaluation.
