Beaver Dam Man Charged With Failing To Return To Jail From Work

(Herman) A Beaver Dam man made his initial appearance in court Tuesday on charges he failed to return to the jail from work. Maliek Sherman is facing a felony count of Escape. Dodge County jail staff were made aware Monday that Sherman had not returned to the facility after leaving for work and a pre-approved medical appointment. According to the criminal complaint, correctional officers called the Beaver Dam hospital and close contacts and could not make contact with Sherman. The 22-year-old was taken into custody just before 2am Tuesday after a sheriff’s deputy reportedly pulled a vehicle over that he was driving which had no license plates. If convicted, Sherman faces six years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 18th.
