Beaver Dam Man Appears On Felony Hit and Run Charge

(Oak Grove) A Beaver Dam man suspected of seriously injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident made his initial appearance in court Wednesday. Colin Biel is facing one felony count of Hit and Run Involving Injury. Monday evening, Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on County Road I near Highway 33 in the Town of Oak Grove following reports that a southbound vehicle had struck a pedestrian. The victim’s injuries were serious but did not appear to be life threatening. At 7am the following morning, Biel had turned himself into the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office after viewing the press release that had been sent out. According to the criminal complaint, Biel admitted to leaving the scene and thought he hit a deer. Biel allegedly said he later returned, saw emergency lights and left. If convicted, the 41-year-old faces no more than nine months in prison. Signature bond was set at $1,000 dollars and a judge will decide in December if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
