Beaver Dam Man Accused Of Attempting To Run Down Deputies

9/23/17 – A Beaver Dam man is accused of trying to rundown two Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies with his car. Keith Nickels is charged with one felony count of Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. The incident happened around 9:30pm Thursday evening in the North Hills Mobile Home Park on Kellom Road in the Town of Beaver Dam. The two deputies were on foot patrol attempting to locate a person of interest to serve a warrant in an unrelated case when the suspect’s vehicle allegedly drove through the park in excess of the posted speed limit. One of the deputies shined a flashlight in the car. The 58-year-old reportedly turned the vehicle around and charged at the deputies at a high rate of speed. The deputies took evasive action, got out of the way and were not injured. A traffic stop was conducted and Nickels reportedly told the deputy that he was upset because the flashlight was shined into his vehicle. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison. A signature bond was set at $5000 yesterday and a judge will decide next month if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
