(Beaver Dam) The city of Beaver Dam is going to be looking for a new department head. City Engineering Coordinator Ritchie Piltz is leaving to take a similar position in Watertown. His final day will be in November. Mayor Becky Glewen discussed the pending vacancy with us Friday on WBEV’s Community Comment. She says there will be staff meeting on Monday to discuss the impact on affected departments during the interim. MSA Professional Services is the city’s contract engineer for jobs considered too large to be done in-house. Their role will presumably be expanding while city officials plot their next step, which Glewen anticipates will be budget neutral. The mayor says Piltz will be taking a lot of institutional knowledge with him. Piltz is the second department head to depart this year. Director of Finance John Somers retired but has been rehired as a budget consultant to assist with preparing the 2020 city budget.
