Beaver Dam Hosts WIAA Division 1 Track and Field Sectional Tonight
The WIAA State Track and Field Sectionals are taking place tonight across Wisconsin, with Beaver Dam High School hosting a Division 1 sectional.
Six Beaver Dam student-athletes have qualified for the meet, including:
- Lucy Gonzalez — Girls 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles
- Morgan Maertz — Girls long jump and triple jump
- Claire Bates — Girls long jump
- Grace Haines — Girls high jump
- Owen Hemling — Boys pole vault
- Taylor Post — Wheelchair 400, 800, 1600 and shot put
Watertown will also have several student-athletes competing at the Beaver Dam sectional, including:
- Nicalette Graue — Girls 100-meter hurdles (4th at regional)
- Chance Kortendick — Boys 100-meter hurdles (3rd)
- David Otto — Boys 400 meters (4th)
- Brogan Schwegel — Boys 800 meters (4th) and Boys 1600 meters (2nd)
- Matthias Unertl — Boys 3200 meters (4th)
- Aiden Scholze — Boys discus (2nd) and boys shot put (3rd)
- Finnagen Geraths — Boys discus (4th)
- Brady Crane — Boys shot put (4th)
- Kendra Betschler — Girls shot put (3rd)
- Girls 4×100-meter relay team (4th)
- Boys 4×400-meter relay team (4th)
The top three finishers in each event will qualify for next week’s WIAA State Track and Field Championships.
Competition begins at 4 p.m. at the BDHS Athletic Field. Admission is $7.
